Distressing

The Amateurs

The Amateurs is a story about a traveling acting troop trying to outrun the plague in the middle ages. The social status of the troop is shown through the distressing of their personal clothes. The lowest member and therefore the dirtiest is Gregory the craftsman for the company, while the highest and cleanest member is Larking the self-proclaimed director.

Rebecca uses paint to create dirt and sweat stains. She softens and tears the clothes to show wear. She also used a variety of mending methods to help create texture.
